Professor Wang Xiaolei and Dr. Ding Xingwei, the non-party experts of the 3D Printing and Biomaterials Laboratory of the Institute of Translational Medicine of Nanchang University, recently took the lead in the international development of non-invasive precision treatment technology for light response to thrombosis. Relevant results were published on August 27, 2017, the world's leading journal Advanced Functional Materials (influence factor 12.14). Nanchang University is the first signature unit.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one health killer in humans, with 16.6 million people dying every year from cardiovascular disease. Nearly one-third of them died of a stroke. The vast majority of strokes are caused by the formation of blood clots in the blood vessels that govern the brain. In addition, for the elderly, due to vascular aging, damaged blood vessel walls, prone to high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, diabetes and other related diseases, it is also easy to induce thrombosis. Most of the existing antithrombotic drugs have the disadvantages of easy inactivation and short circulation period in vivo, and the clinical curative effect is not ideal. Therefore, surgery is still the main treatment for severe thrombosis. If a highly effective and precise drug treatment system for thrombus can be constructed, non-invasive treatment of thrombosis will have important scientific significance.
In response to this topic, under the joint guidance of three experts in the cardiovascular field of our province (Professor Xin Hongbo, Professor of the Yangtze River Second Affiliated Hospital, Professor Zhou Weimin and Professor Hong Kui), Professor Wang Xiaolei and Dr. Ding Xingwei from the Institute of Translational Medicine of Nanchang University The team worked together to develop a thrombolytic drug delivery system with photoresponsive properties.
Professor Wang Xiaolei, the project leader of this project, said that the advent of this light response technology should first thank the leading experts in cardiovascular field in our province (Professor Xin Hongbo, Professor Zhou Weimin and Professor Hong Kui) for their guidance. At the same time, it is also inseparable from the strong help of teachers of Engineering (Liu Ying) and chemistry (Wa Shuhua). In fact, our school's five major disciplines of chemistry, clinical medicine, agricultural science (food science and engineering), engineering, and materials science have entered the top 1% of ESI's world rankings; they are traditionally superior disciplines in Jiangxi Province, with abundant talent reserves. The technical foundation is solid. Photoresponsive health materials are one of the core cross-cutting directions of the above-mentioned four majors of chemistry, clinical medicine, engineering, and materials science. They only need to find the right direction and provide appropriate support. This direction is expected to achieve more major breakthroughs in the short term.
It is worth mentioning that this technique is also very effective for the elimination of hematoma. Professor Wang Xiaolei said with a smile. "After playing basketball, you don't have to wait a week or two to get swollen. As long as the bones are fine, use our technology for half an hour and you will be able to play again soon. ”
